How It Works
Roast To Order
We are roast to ordercoffee roasters. That’s all we do. Our coffees never sit on a shelf going stale. What is "roast to order"? Why are we roast to order only?
- Roast to order means we only roast when our customers order. We do not roast coffee unless a customer has specifically asked us to roast for them. In that sense we are personal coffee roasters for each of our customers.
- Once roasted, properly preserved whole bean coffee has a shelf life of approximately three weeks. Thereafter, it is stale. If ground immediately after roasting it has a shelf life of approximately three days. Thereafter it is stale. That is any coffee, not just Art's Coffee, The deterioration process cannot be stopped or slowed down but it can be accelerated. Do you purchase and eat stale food? Why are you buying and drinking stale coffee? This is why we're roast to order only and only provide the best whole coffee beans in LA and the US of A. It's all we've ever done. It's what's best for our customers!
Roast Weeks
We roast every three weeks. We call them Roast Weeks. We have caf coffees and a decaf coffee. Each Roast Week we roast one of the cafs and the decaf. What we are roasting, prices and when we are roasting is posted on our Roast Week Schedule and Prices on this site. The schedule is routinely updated. Our Roast Alert emails, sent in the week prior to a Roast Week, also has this and other pertinent information.
Coffees
All of our coffees are high grade single origin certified organics. We do not blend coffees. If a particular single origin coffee is exceptional, why blend it with others? Greens (unroasted coffees) come from one of the three major coffee growing regions of the world, Central/South America, Africa, Indonesia. Our decaf is a high grown, water process decaf. Our current coffees are...
- Mexican Organic
- Ethiopian Organic
- Papua New Guinea Organic
- Decaf Mexican HG Organic
Correctly preserved, ground and brewed the coffees of Art's Coffee Roasters will produce an amazingly satisfying coffee. Smooth and rich with depth of flavor and character. Never sharp, harsh or bitter, or tasteless. Our customers call it "OH MY! in a cup" and "I gotta have more of that" coffee. Countless customers tell us that it's the first coffee they've been able to genuinely enjoy and look forward to without adding anything to the coffee. How to correctly preserve freshness, grind and brew? Seriously simple! Go to the "Info" tab, select "Preserving Freshness, Grinding, Brewing". Let us know if you have questions.
Prices
Prices are per pound, ie, 16 ounces. They typically fluctuate a small amount based on prices we pay for greens (unroasted coffees), support materials (bags, labels, roaster fuel), and CC Fees. Prices are current as of this posting.
Subscription
95%+ of our customers are "subscription" customers, what we historically called Standing Order. They tell us the quantity to automatically roast for them each Roast Week and that's what we do. Its sole purpose is to take routine ordering off the plate of our customers to make life easier for them. There is no cost or obligation. It can be altered in any way for any reason as often as needed. It definitely helps us manage and forecast greens inventory needs for which we are grateful.
To express our gratitude, on each yearly anniversary of your subscription you'll receive a pound on us.
Please communicate with us on the "Contact Us" section of artscoffeeroasters.com if you have an interest in becoming a subscription customer.
